Embroidery Machine Not Stitching? 10 Quick Checks Before You Call a Tech
If your embroidery machine suddenly stops stitching, you can often narrow down the cause in a few minutes. Here are practical checks you can do safely before scheduling service.
1) Confirm the needle is correct
Use the correct needle system for your machine and replace it if it has any burrs or bends. A slightly damaged needle can cause skipped stitches and thread breaks.
2) Rethread top and bobbin
Rethread with the presser foot up so the thread seats in the tension discs. Then remove and reinstall the bobbin case to ensure it’s fully seated.
3) Check thread path and tension
Look for thread wrapped around guides, take-up lever issues, or lint in the tension area. If tension is wildly off, stop and schedule service to avoid damage.
When to stop troubleshooting
If you hear grinding, see needle strikes, or the hook timing looks off, stop running the machine and book a repair appointment. Continuing can turn a small issue into a major repair.
